African drumming is not difficult to learn. It requires a relaxed disposition and practice. It's an opportunity to learn a skill that has so many benefits when put to use.

Drumming lessons

Drumming lessons are two-hour sessions of fun. Afriquetone teaches people of varying ages ranging from age 8 to age 60. Focus is placed on the dynamics of African drumming with a relaxed approach that guarantees stress relief and emphasizes fun and creativity.

learn to - create, identify and anticipate

Students learn the traditional hand techniques and various combinations, learn how to identify African rhythms, create their own rhythms, learn how to anticipate beats and play African beats to rhyme with other types of music.

We also focus on timing, ear, eye and hand coordination, awareness and concentration. Lessons are done on a weekly basis, usually on weekends but exceptions can be made for those who have more spare time during the week.

drum circles

Afriquetone also organises drum circles where people can meet regularly to play together, learn new rhythms, shape their skills and exchange ideas.

The drum circles are not as intensive as the drum lessons but are also very useful to experienced drummers and beginners.
